Tyson & Rebecca's Vow Renewal in the beautiful village of Maplebeck, Derbyshire
As a Derbyshire wedding photographer, I have the privilege of capturing many unique love stories. Tyson & Rebecca’s vow renewal was no different, and I felt genuinely honored to document their special day in the heart of Derbyshire. Their celebration wasn’t just a wedding—it was a beautiful vow renewal that marked a new chapter in their lives together.
Tyson, a fantastic chap with an infectious smile and amazing personality, originally hails from the United States and having met Rebecca online, decided to uproot his entire life and move over to the sunny lands of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, I mean, who wouldn't want to? Rebecca, hailing from Derbyshire, is as sharp-minded as she is graceful, captivating everyone with her charm and her beauty on the day and brought joy
Their wedding was originally in the US and was a celebration for Tyson's side of the family, whereas the Vow Renewal was an intimate and romantic celebration of their love for the UK family.
The Venue
Nestled in the charming village of Maplebeck, Newark, Derbyshire, St Radegund's Church set a truly enchanting scene for this special day. With roots stretching back to the 13th century and a significant renovation in 1898, the church exudes timeless English charm. Its stone walls, arched windows, and historic detailing make it a perfect backdrop for a wedding that celebrates love, heritage, and a touch of old-world romance. For couples marking a new chapter in the UK, there is no better place to say “I do” than surrounded by the quintessential beauty of an English parish church.
The Ceremony
There is a quiet magic in the ceremony that makes it the most intimate part of the wedding day. From the moment you take your first steps down the aisle to the instant you walk back up as partners, it can feel as if the world has disappeared, leaving just the two of you. In these fleeting moments, the chatter and chaos fade away, and for a heartbeat in time, you are able to focus solely on each other - and the life you are about to build together.
Their ceremony was intimate, personal, and full of love. Capturing these moments is what vow renewal photography in Derbyshire is all about—preserving the laughter, the vows, and the small gestures that make a day unforgettable.
Their vows were beautiful and personal, sharing from both sides, just how hard it was not just being long distance, but intercontinentally long distance. I can fully sympathise with what distance does to a relationship due to my, and my partners early years but I don't think I could possibly begin to fathom what the Atlantic Ocean could do.
Following the Ceremony
After the ceremony, the couple, along with family and friends, gathered outside the church doors for a joyful confetti walk and photos on the church lawns. For this shoot, the church served as an important backdrop and had to remain front and center. I also captured portraits of each group, giving the couple a variety of options featuring their friends and family.
Oh, and how could I forget? a visit from a furry friend! After the ceremony, it was lovely to include the couple’s beloved dog in some of the photos. Clearly a cherished member of the family, their presence added a warm, joyful touch to the images. Seeing the dog happily posing alongside Tyson and Rebecca reminded everyone that weddings and vow renewals aren’t just about the people—they’re about celebrating the whole family, in every sense of the word. He had plenty to say about the occasion and would rarely be standing due to all the belly rubs he was getting!
