Victoria Gate Leeds

Victoria Gate Leeds is far more than a shopping centre. It is a destination built around experiences, community, and culture, and that philosophy was at the heart of every shoot I delivered for this project. Working with Victoria Gate during their Baby Week and Carnival celebrations was a chance to document not just events, but meaningful engagement with the city of Leeds.

This project focused on brand photography and event photography that reflected warmth, inclusivity, and atmosphere. The aim was to create imagery that showed how Victoria Gate connects people, families, and local communities through shared experiences.

The Brief

Victoria Gate required professional photography that could visually communicate their outreach-led approach. The imagery needed to support marketing, social media, and promotional campaigns while clearly showing the scale and personality of each event.

Key objectives included:

  • Capturing real moments from live events
  • Showcasing Victoria Gate as an experiential destination
  • Creating versatile content for digital and promotional use
  • Highlighting community engagement and footfall
  • This wasn’t about static retail imagery. It was about storytelling through commercial and lifestyle photography.

Baby Week & Carnival Celebrations

During Baby Week and the Carnival events, my focus was on energy, emotion, and interaction. From families enjoying activities to colourful performances and spontaneous moments, the photography captured the vibrancy of the events and the inclusive nature of the space.

These images were designed to show Victoria Gate as a place where people gather, interact, and create memories, reinforcing brand identity through real-world experiences rather than staged visuals.

Leeds Triathlon Coverage

In addition to the retail and community events, I was also honoured to photograph the Leeds Triathlon, where roads surrounding Victoria Gate were closed to support the event. This was a completely different environment, fast-paced, high-pressure, and driven by performance.

Photographing elite athletes, including members of Team GB, required a sharp, reactive approach to sports and event photography. Capturing movement, focus, and atmosphere under pressure highlighted the versatility of Victoria Gate as a central hub for major city events.
